Answered verse by verse -- two books I really love

The Bible says to study to show ourselves approved. These are two books every church person should have. These are two books every church group should study when they study cults.

Jehovah's Witnesses Answered Verse by Verse
David A Reed
Publisher: Baker Book House
Publication Date: 1997, c1986.

Here's the blurb from Logos.com

Jehovah's Witnesses Answered: Verse By Verse not only includes contested verses but also gives background to why Jehovah's Witnesses believe what they do. Additional information is also given about the Bible translation that Jehovah's Witnesses use. This section provides a greater context and explains how certain verses that seem so harmless can be understood by Jehovah's Witnesses in a completely different way.

Table of Contents
What Jehovah's Witnesses Believe

About the Author
This resource's final chapter, entitled "The Author's Testimony", follows David Reed's journey from agnosticism to zealous Jehovah's Witness and finally to Bible-believing Christian. This story will undoubtedly aid the reader during conversations with Jehovah's Witnesses by giving a first-hand account of why he left the Watchtower for Christianity. David A. Reed has authored several other works on Jehovah's Witnesses and Mormons including Answering Jehovah's Witnesses Subject by Subject, Jehovah's Witness Literature, and How to Rescue Your Loved One from the Watch Tower .

Mormons Answered Verse by Verse
David A Reed
John R Farkas
Publisher: Baker Book House
Publication Date: 1997, c1992.

This resource starts with a synopsis of what the Mormon Church teaches and then moves into a subject-by-subject listing of Mormon beliefs on issues such as heaven, marriage, salvation, and women.

However, the majority of the book is dedicated to controversial verses that are incorrectly interpreted by Mormons. The electronic version of this resource is extremely beneficial as any reference to Scripture can be read in your preferred translation with only one click of your mouse.

Wow, I need to get these, because I would like to really know why they believe a bit differently; both Jehova's Witnesses and Mormons.

They are really really really really good! I hate arguing with folks when they come to the door so I usually focus on one thing or tell them to leave. But all Christians should study to show themselves approved. Jehovah's Witnesses like believing that they know the Bible better than other folks. Actually, they know the Watchtower teaching. They really don't study much else other than what watchtower tells them to. Anyways, these are the best...absolute best. I wouldn't steer you wrong. -C

I trust you...I like series like these.

Oh, FyI: I went on Amazon and ordered an exercise DVD by Thjran(I think its her name) anyhow, she has a workout video that incorporates what she teaches all the biggest stars in Hollywood, and I bought the 55cm ball for my curl ups. Sometimes I can't go jogging by myself in my neighborhood(dangerous!), so I have to find something to do inside this tiny apartment.

Nice!!! We have to commit. Which reminds me... I haven't really gone for a walk today. Might do it later today, in the afternoon when/if it gets cooler.

So many things to commit to but God has given us the strength to do it. I'm really focusing on speaking only God's word and having good confession and letting all my words be as an oracle of God instead of spewing forth fear and doubt caused by Satan. So been really trying to say Bible promises. Confessing and believing. And last night forgave tons an tons of people. Trying to do everything necessary and required for my and my son's healing. I often think that the reason many christians aren't healed is A) no faith on the part of the person praying for them, B) ignorance of the principles of healing C) unforgiveness -- especially toward judgemental know-it-all Christians or snide non-believers.

A good book is Scripture Twisting. It's good but too general to stave off the attacks of any one cult. A great healing book that I am currently re-reading is Christ the healer by FF Bosworth. Will post it on Sunday.

We're both gonna be soooo healthy and in shape by the end of the year. God is with us. -C

Oh yes! I didn't walk today, a major thunderstorm and lots of rain prevented me from doing just that. And I had a big, gooey pizza! I know, I know, but I try to walk three, four times a week. So Thursday and Friday, I will resume the walking.

We must believe to receive, and follow the routines!
